Standard Wood Species

The following wood species are available in our Stonebridge line of cabinetry.

Cherry

Red oak has sapwood that is white to light brown and the heartwood is a reddish brown.  It is mainly straight-grained, with a coarse texture

Hickory is well-known for its strength and is a very hard wood. Known for its variation between the sap and heartwood, hickory is ideal for a rustic appearance.

Maple generally has a greyish white sapwood with  a reddish brown heartwood. The wood is usually straight-grained and is ideal for a painted finish.

The heartwood of cherry is red to reddish brown and will darken drastically with age while the sapwood is creamy white. The wood has a fine uniform, straight grain and stains well for a rich, traditional look.

The sapwood of walnut is white, while the heartwood is a chocolate brown with a purplish cast.  Common walnut contains a wide variation in color and has both sapwood and heartwood. When stained with a dark finish it appears very similar to select walnut. Also available in rustic which includes knots.

Knotty alder is light brown with a hint of yellow or red.  The wood is fairly straight-grained with a uniform texture and takes stain quite well. Similar to cherry with less drastic aging.
